Frank Lampard provides big injury boost for Chelsea ahead of Tottenham clash
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has confirmed that Ruben Loftus-Cheek will make the matchday squad against Tottenham Hotspur after successfully recovering from a long-term Achilles injury.
The England international returned to full training prior to the winter break but Lampard has been reluctant to reintroduce him to first-team action in recent weeks amid concerns over his fitness.
However, ahead of the London derby on Saturday, Lampard has confirmed that Loftus-Cheek is available for selection and may feature off the bench, he told via Goal.com: "Ruben is in the squad. He’s not fit to start, but great to have him in the squad."
Aside from Loftus-Cheek, Andreas Christensen and Tammy Abraham could return to the squad for the cross-town derby. Christensen suffered a broken nose in the previous game but Lampard has stated that he could feature tomorrow with a face mask.
Abraham, meanwhile, missed the previous clash against Manchester United with an ankle problem. Lampard has suggested that the striker may undergo a late fitness test to determine his involvement.
