Real Madrid eyeing shock move for Virgil van Dijk
Real Madrid are reportedly considering a big-money move for Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk as they seek to strengthen their central defensive options.
The Dutchman joined the Reds from Southampton in January 2018 and he has since been pivotal to the team success as he has helped them gain numerous clean sheets.
According to Sport, Los Blancos are keen on shoring up the central defensive department this summer and they have their sights on landing Van Dijk from the runaway Premier League leaders.
The same publication claims that they are prepared to pay a world-record £151m fee for a defender as they seek to persuade the European champions to part ways with their prized asset.
Van Dijk has been huge influential towards the Reds' dominant defensive record in the Premier League recent months. He has kept 12 clean sheets for the Merseysiders, who are a staggering 22 points ahead of Manchester City at the top of the standings.
Van Dijk's current deal with the Reds is due to expire in the summer of 2023 but reports have claimed that he could be rewarded with a fresh six-year contract prior to the end of the season.
