Arsenal face Liverpool competition for Thomas Partey
Liverpool are reportedly set to compete with Arsenal in the race to sign Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid this summer.
The Ghana international has been a consistent performer for the La Liga outfit and his displays have caught the eye of the Gunners over the past year.
However, according to Cadena Ser, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is also keeping a close watch on the holding midfielder, who helped Atleti beat the Reds in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16.
The Merseyside giants have made no high-profile signings over the past few transfer windows but they are expected to spend on a few recruits ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.
The Premier League leaders are already expecting the departure of Adam Lallana when his contract expires in the summer and he could be followed by Xherdan Shaqiri, who has struggled with regular injury concerns this term.
Partey, who has more than three years remaining on his contract, has a release clause worth £42m. He has recently suggested that he won't look for a fresh challenge unless Atleti are willing to sanction his sale.
