Manchester United confident of sealing club-record deal for Spanish star
Manchester United are confident that they can seal the signature of Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid during this summer's transfer window.
Niguez was previously linked with the Red Devils a couple of years ago before he signed a stunning nine-year contract with the Madrid giants.
According to The Star, the Red Devils are planning for life after Paul Pogba and they are prepared to sanction his sale for around £100m this summer.
The same publication cites that Niguez is the prime candidate to replace him and they are willing to trigger the staggering £135m buy-out clause on his contract.
The Spain international has made nearly 300 appearances for the La Liga outfit in all competitions where he has contributed 38 goals and 18 assists.
He has generally featured in the centre of the park but is capable of playing as a defensive or right-sided midfielder. He has also slotted into the left-back position under manager Diego Simeone when required.
Pogba is currently United's club-record signing for £89m following his move from Juventus in 2016. The Frenchman has been linked with a possible return to the Bianconeri this summer.
