Dayot Upamecano keen on joining Spanish giants
RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano is reportedly prepared to turn down the likes of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur in order to join Real Madrid this summer.
The Frenchman has less than 15 months remaining on his existing deal with Leipzig and so far, he has shown no intention of penning a renewal with the club.
He currently has a £53m release clause on his contract but reports claim that Leipzig may accept a lesser fee with the prospect of losing him for nothing next summer.
According to AS, Upamecano, who shares the same representative as Los Blancos' Toni Kroos, is said to be determined to join the Madrid giants during the next transfer window.
Upamecano's arrival at the Bernabeu could pave the way for the departure of Eder Militao, who has failed to impress Zinedine Zidane since his arrival from Portuguese side Porto last year.
Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos are the regular central defensive choices under Zidane but Upamecano has the chance of replacing the latter in the long-term. Ramos, whose contract expires in June 2021, recently celebrated his 34th birthday.
