Arsenal defender confirms talks over Benfica return
Arsenal defender David Luiz has confirmed that he has already held talks with Benfica president Luís Filipe Vieira over a possible return to the club.
The Brazil international built his reputation at the Primeira outfit between 2007 and 2011 and he is said to be keen on rejoining the club for the final phase of his career.
Speaking to Portuguese outlet Record, Luiz revealed that he has already spoken with Vieira regarding a possible comeback and he is hopeful of making his return in the near future.
"I already spoke with Vieira about the return. My dream is to end my career at Benfica. When, I don't know, but it will happen. It will be one of the most beautiful moments of my career," He told.
Luiz's current deal with the Gunners expires at the end of the campaign. The north London club have yet to trigger the extension clause on his £125,000-a-week contract.
They are currently facing financial difficulties following the unexpected coronavirus outbreak and it remains to be seen whether they will extend Luiz's stay for another year.
