Mourinho needs to offload Lamela before landing Willian

Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho will need to offload Erik Lamela before he can secure the services of Willian this summer.

Willian's current deal with Chelsea expires at the end of next month but he is expected to remain committed to the club for the rest of the season.

Thereafter, he is likely to pursue a fresh transfer away from the club and Spurs are deemed as the favourites to sign him on a three-year contract.

According to Football Insider, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reluctant to meet Willian's £125,000-a-week wages and will demand the sale of one of the widemen in the squad.

The same outlet claims that Lamela has been identified as the odd-man out and the north London side will demand around £20m for his departure this summer.

The capital outfit are currently tight with their finances due to the shutdown resulting from the coronavirus pandemic and they are likely to limit their spending to free transfers and bargain deals this summer.

Mourinho has maintained a good relationship with Willian over the years and he may not have any concerns in offloading Lamela in order to reunite with his former Chelsea player.
