West Ham United have reportedly joined Arsenal in the race to sign Sardar Azmoun from Zenit St Petersburg during this summer's transfer window.

The Iran international has been on the radar of Premier League clubs in the past and he came close to joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in January 2019 before he made the switch to Russia.

Azmoun has since been a quality performer for Zenit with 26 goals and 10 assists from 45 appearances and his form has caught the eye of several European clubs.

According to Area Napoli, the Hammers have recently joined the Gunners in the pursuit of the centre-forward, who has been regularly dubbed as the Iranian Messi.

David Moyes' side are prepared to meet Zenit's £22m asking price for the 25-year-old but the Gunners are said to be the favourites as they are prepared to match the valuation.

Aside from the Premier League duo, Napoli have also been credited with an interest in the former Rubin Kazan man but they are unlikely to make a move unless they recoup sufficient funds from player sales.
