Chelsea make Edinson Cavani transfer decision

Edinson Cavani news

Chelsea don't want to sign Cavani

Chelsea are unlikely to make an attempt to sign Edinson Cavani, who will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

The Uruguayan has spent seven years with Paris Saint-Germain but sporting director Leonardo recently confirmed that he will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of August.

Frank Lampard's side were interested in a move for Cavani during the January transfer window, but they were put off by Les Parisiens' £15m price tag for the marksman.

There have continued to be linked with the 33-year-old occasionally but Football.London reports that the club are unlikely to make him a contract offer this summer.

The Blues have recently agreed personal terms with RB Leipzig's Timo Werner ahead of his £50m switch to the club and they are unlikely to pursue another centre-forward.

Werner is likely to compete with Tammy Abraham for the role upfront. Olivier Giroud and Michy Batshuayi are the other options to lead the line but the latter is expected to leave the club this summer.
