Joe Cole believes Premier League star should join Chelsea
Joe Cole believes Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell would be taking a step up, should he make the move to Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
The England international is one of the prime targets for the Blues and talks are already said to be underway between the sides regarding a transfer.
The Foxes' £80m price tag remains a stumbling block at the moment, but Cole remains hopeful that the left-back will make the switch to his former side.
"Similar to [Timo] Werner, he fits the ethos – he is young, he’s hungry, he’s explosive and athletic. I think he’s got a lot of talent," He was quoted as saying by Goal.com.
"If he comes to Chelsea, working with the group there – in Brendan [Rodgers] he’s got a great manager and a great team up at Leicester. But Chelsea’s a step up from Leicester."
Chilwell was recently on the scoresheet for the Foxes as they registered a 1-1 draw at Watford. The club are currently eight points ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United and remain in a good position to qualify for next season's Champions League.
Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers has recently stated that the defender is not looking at the prospect of leaving the club and it will be interesting to see whether the Englishman will stay put with the club beyond the summer.
