Jonathan Barnett speaks on Jack Grealishs future amid Manchester United link

Grealish's agent insists the midfielder is focused on Villa for now

The agent of Jack Grealish has stressed that the midfielder is focused on the relegation battle with Aston Villa despite the speculation linking him with Manchester United.

Grealish has been the standout performer for the west Midlands outfit since their promotion to the Premier League this term and he has bagged seven goals and six assists from 28 appearances.

In recent months, there have been repeated links suggesting that United will prioritise the signing of the versatile midfielder but Jonathan Barnett has indicated that the 24-year-old will only assess his options at the end of the season.

"Jack is captain of Aston Villa - his first priority at the moment is to make sure that they survive in the Premiership," Barnett told The Ornstein & Chapman Podcast.

"Until that is sorted out, we don't have the discussion. He's got his priorities right, he has a job and that's what he's going to do, he's going to fight hard for Aston Villa."

Villa have a genuine chance of beating the drop with just one point separating them from 17th-placed West Ham United. However, they need to find ways of winning, given they have picked up just one point from the previous six games.

Aside from Grealish, John McGinn has been another player, who has been fancied to head for the exit door, particularly if the Villains are relegated. Newcastle United are said to be one of the main admirers of the Scotland international.
