Arsenal miss out on Kokcu

Arsenal have missed out on the signing of Orkun Kokcu from Feyenoord after the midfielder put pen-to-paper on a new contract with the Eredivisie outfit.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the teenage midfielder and their interest was confirmed by the player's agent earlier in the year.

It was anticipated that they would make a formal approach to sign him ahead of the summer transfer window, but they have now received a huge blow with the 19-year-old signing a fresh five-year deal.

Kokcu is now expected to stay put with the Dutch giants for the forthcoming campaign and the Gunners will have to look elsewhere in their search for a new central midfielder.

The Gunners are set to lose the services of Daniel Ceballos when his loan stint concludes at the end of the season while Matteo Guendouzi has also been touted to leave the club.

In this case, the capital outfit could find themselves with only two senior midfielders in Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira, and will definitely need to spend on a couple of midfield recruits.
