Liverpool receive a boost in signing Thiago Alcantara
Liverpool have received a boost in signing Thiago Alcantara from Bayern Munich after the Spaniard turned down a new contract with the German champions.
The midfielder has only 12 months remaining in his existing deal with the Bundesliga holders and he has shown no intention of negotiating an extension over the past few months.
According to BILD, Bayern have accepted that the midfielder will head for the exit door this summer and they are prepared to listen to suitable offers for his services.
The German giants have yet to receive any formal bid for the 29-year-old, but the Reds are understood to be leading the race, having held initial talks with the player's agent.
Alcantara has been with Bayern for the past seven year and he has been a quality performer from the centre of the park with 31 goals and 37 assists from 230 appearances.
He would want the assurance of a starting berth with a move to another European outfit. It is reported that Bayern could listen to offers of more than £30m this summer.
