Arsenal made bid for Lyon's Houssem Aouar
Arsenal are understood to have recently made an offer for Houssem Aouar, which was turned down by Lyon.
The north London side are aiming to reinforce the squad ahead of next season and Mikel Arteta is said to be eyeing a midfielder with creativity.
According to L'Equipe, the Gunners were recently in contact with Les Gones over Aouar and they proposed to sign him in a part-exchange deal.
The capital outfit tabled a bid of around £25m and offered midfielder Matteo Guendouzi as a makeweight in the proposal.
However, they were unsuccessful in their attempt and it is claimed that Les Gones have no intention of selling Aouar for less than £50m.
On top of this, the French side are not actively looking for a replacement and they are content with the options in the squad even if Aouar leaves.
Aouar grabbed two assists for Les Gones in the recent 3-1 win over Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final in Lisbon.
