Arsenal in good position to sign defender

Arsenal are in a good position to sign Gabriel Magalhaes from Lille this summer, a report from Calciomercato claims.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is keen on reshuffling the squad and he is said to prioritise the signing of a new centre-back.

Gabriel has emerged as the prime target in recent weeks and Calciomercato claims that the club are positive about their chances of signing him.

Napoli are said to have a gentleman's agreement with Lille for Gabriel, but their move is dependent on the sale of Kalidou Koulibaly.

So far, they have not received any suitable bids for their player and it is reported that Gabriel is unwilling to wait much longer.

Hence, Arteta's side are well placed to land his signature and it is claimed that Lille would be happy to accept the £25m offer on the table.

Everton have also been linked with Gabriel's services, but they are unlikely to match the Gunners offer for the Brazilian centre-back.
