Michy Batshuayi to seal Palace loan transfer
Michy Batshuayi to seal Palace loan transfer
Crystal Palace will secure a loan deal to sign striker Michy Batshuayi from Chelsea this afternoon, after the forward agreed to a return to the Eagles for a loan transfer for the 2020-21 campaign. Batshuayi has opted to stay in England as opposed to a move to Italy, where several clubs had expressed interest in a permanent deal for the player.
The Belgian forward spent 2018-19 on loan with the Eagles and scored six goals in 13 games, an impressive return for the 26-year-old. Since then, the striker has been unable to dislodge the likes of Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham from the first team, and with the arrival of Timo Werner the Belgian striker has decided to set off for pastures new.
In pre-season training, Palace have been playing Jeffrey Schlupp as a makeshift striker so it was an important move for Roy Hodgson's club to secure a new player ahead of the upcoming season.
It is understood that Palace have first option on a permanent deal at the end of this upcoming season.
