Arsenal interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Jorginho
Arsenal have reportedly been linked with a surprise move for Chelsea midfielder Jorginho.
The Gunners are on the search for at least one central midfielder and they have been credited with an interest in both Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar.
However, they have been unable to negotiate a deal for either player to date due to the price tag and Sky Sports News claims that Jorginho is the back-up option.
Jorginho was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in 2018 when Arteta was the assistant manager, but the Blues hijacked the deal at the 11th hour to sign him from Napoli.
The Italy international has since experienced a mixed career with the Blues with highs and lows and there are still doubts whether he will remain with the club beyond the transfer window.
The west London giants have already spent £240m on seven major signings, but they have yet to pursue a central midfielder. They are keen on landing Declan Rice from West Ham United, but he won't come on the cheap.
The Hammers want at least £70m for the England international and the Blues may look to recoup some of the funds from the sale of Jorginho, possibly to the Gunners.
