Arsenal interested in Houssem Aouar

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has acknowledged that Arsenal are one of the clubs interested in signing Houssem Aouar this summer.

Aouar is regarded as one of Lyon's best creative players and he bagged nine goals and 10 assists across all competitions last term.

In recent weeks, the Gunners have been heavily linked with the Frenchman's services, but have been unable to strike a deal due to the hefty £54m price tag.

The north London giants are still continuing in their pursuit of the playmaker, but Aulas has doubts whether they can meet the transfer demands for the playmaker.

"Financially, Arsenal are like everyone else, and Houssem could say to himself that the best thing would be to stay with us," he was quoted as saying by Le Progres.

Aside from Aouar, the Gunners are also keen on landing the signature of Thomas Partey from Atletico Madrid, but they are yet to trigger the £45m release clause on his contract.

Mikel Arteta's side may need to recoup funds from player sales such that they can sign at least one player before the transfer deadline on October 5.
