Atletico Madrid confident of signing Arsenal midfielder
Atletico Madrid are reportedly confident of landing the signature of Lucas Torreira on an initial loan deal from Arsenal.
The Uruguay international barely featured for the Gunners after the coronavirus shutdown last term with manager Mikel Arteta preferring to play Granit Xhaka and Dani Ceballos in the centre of the park.
The situation has remained the same in the new season with Ceballos rejoining the club on loan. Torreira has not made the matchday squad for any of the club's opening three games of the campaign.
Hence, he has been fancied to head for the exit door and Sky Sports News claims that Diego Simeone's side are confident of securing his services on loan with the option to buy next summer.
It is added that the deal won't have any influence on the Gunners' pursuit of Thomas Partey. The north London side have identified the Ghanaian as their prime midfield target, but Atleti are adamant that he won't be sold unless the £45m release clause on his contract is triggered.
