Midfielder Matteo Guendouzi has made the move to Germany to sign on loan for Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin. The Frenchman, who had caught the eye last season for Arsenal but has slipped down the pecking order at the club after a number of high profile disciplinary incidents, will move to Germany for the remainder of the campaign.

Paris St Germain and Lyon were both linked with a move for Guendouzi, but were put off by Arsenal's reported 40 million euro price tag. It is understood that Hertha will pay Guendouzi's salary for the duration of the loan, and that the player can be recalled to North London at any time as per the terms of the deal.

Announcing the transfer on his Instagram account, Guendouzi quipped: "Excited to be back on the pitch and defend the colors of @herthabsc ! Let’s go ! "

In the other direction, Arsenal have secured a deal for Omar Rekik, the 18-year-old defensive starlet who will play for the season in Steve Bould's under-23 side.

If the player impresses, Mikel Arteta has informed Guendouzi that there may be another chance to play in his Arsenal side in the future.
