Chelsea were interested in Thomas Partey
The father of Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has revealed that the likes of Chelsea and Juventus were interested in securing his signature this summer.
Partey was tipped to leave Atletico Madrid at the end of the previous season and the Gunners were deemed the favourites to land his services.
The north London side were initially reluctant to trigger the £45m release clause on his contract, but they eventually met the figure on deadline day.
Speaking to MyJoyOnline, Jacob Partey has now revealed that both Chelsea and Juventus were interested in his son earlier in the transfer window.
"We were aware of the other teams that were interested: Juventus, Chelsea and so forth. From that minute, we started to dance to 'Party after Party'," He told.
Partey has yet to be presented in the Arsenal shirt, given he travelled with the Ghanaian national team immediately after signing for them.
According to Goal.com's Charles Watts, he is likely to complete the remaining formalities when he arrives at the training ground on Wednesday.
