Chelsea still keen on signing Declan Rice?
Chelsea are still interested in landing the signature of midfielder Declan Rice from West Ham United, a report from The Star claims.
The west London giants spent more than £220m on seven major signings this summer, but they could not pursue a new holding midfielder.
Rice was obviously the prime target, but a deal never materialised as they could not afford the Hammers' £80m price tag.
According to The Star, the Hammers are currently in the process of negotiating a new bumper contract with the England international.
However, that is unlikely to stop the Blues' pursuit of their former graduate and they are prepared to try again for his services in January.
The Blues are planning to offload some players to recoup additional funds in order to meet the transfer demands of the Hammers.
The likes of Marcos Alonso, Emerson and Danny Drinkwater could all head through the exit door when the transfer window reopens.
