Tottenham Hotspur defender close to injury return
Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has said that Japhet Tanganga is not far away from making his comeback with the first-team squad.
The club graduate made his breakthrough under Mourinho earlier in January and he managed 11 appearances during the backend of last season.
He missed the start of the current campaign with a thigh problem, but made his return during the EFL Cup tie against Chelsea last month.
However, he suffered a recurrence of the injury in that game and that has kept him out of contention for first-team duties.
In a recent press conference, Mourinho said that the versatile defender has been unfortunate with injuries, but he is not far off from his comeback game.
"Very unlucky kid, he had a problem from before lockdown, then hard work to get back, played Chelsea in the cup and then this injury. But he's coming," He told.
Spurs have impressed in the Premier League this term and they are currently fifth on the table with 11 points, just two behind surprise leaders Everton.
Elsewhere, they have made a mixed start in the Europa League group stage. They won 3-0 against LASK but recently suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at Antwerp.
