Barcelona want Garcia in January

Barcelona will reportedly prioritise the signing of Eric Garcia from Manchester City in January following the long-term injury suffered by Gerard Pique.

The Blaugrana were in regular negotiations with the Cityzens last summer, but their final offer of £15m for the centre-back was turned down prior to the transfer deadline.

It has been reported that they would return for his services in January and Goal.com claims that they are determined to sign him, particularly after the serious knee injury sustained by Pique.

Pique is set to be ruled out for the majority of the campaign with the injury and that has left Koeman with just one fit central defender in Clement Lenglet with Samuel Umtiti and Ronald Araujo also injured.

Elsewhere, the Catalan giants have had an eye on Lyon forward Memphis Depay, but reports claim that they may delay their pursuit of the Dutchman until next summer and focus on landing Garcia instead.

Both Depay and Garcia have their contracts expiring at the end of the season and the former could join them on a free transfer next summer, given he has no plans of renewing his deal with Les Gones.
