Liverpool refusing to meet Georginio Wijnaldum's contract demands
Liverpool are reluctant to meet the contract demands of Georginio Wijnaldum and could lose him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The Dutchman has been a key player for the Reds in the centre of the park, but his future is uncertain with his contract expiring in June next year.
The Reds have already started negotiations with the midfielder over a fresh deal, but so far, there has been no breakthrough.
According to The Express, the Reds are willing to extend Wijnaldum's stay, but won't accept the midfielder's demands for a four-year deal.
Hence, there has been a stall in the contract talks and the 30-year-old will be free to negotiate a pre-contract with an overseas club at the turn of the year.
Wijnaldum has made more than 200 appearances for the Merseyside giants since arriving from Newcastle United more than four years ago.
He was an attacking midfielder during the early phase of his career, but has transformed into a central midfielder at Anfield.
