Chelsea defender a major injury doubt for West Ham United clash
Chelsea defender Reece James is reportedly a major injury doubt for the upcoming Premier League clash against West Ham United.
The England international has been one of the Blues' standout performers this term, but he has been unfortunate to register just one assist.
According to The Athletic, the right-back has recently been struggling with a knee problem and that was aggravated during the Wolves defeat.
It is added that the concern may be significant enough for him to have a surgery which could rule him out for an extended period of time.
James has been a regular in the right-back position this season ahead of club-captain Cesar Azpilicueta.
He appears likely to miss the Monday derby due to the knee concern and that could see Azpilicueta return to the starting XI.
Azpilicueta has made nearly 400 appearances for the Blues during his career, but he has recently dropped down the pecking order.
In the current campaign, he has not made a single league appearance since the goalless draw against Manchester United two months ago.
