Manchester United defender wanted by Newcastle United
Newcastle United have emerged as potential contenders to sign Marcos Rojo from Manchester United during the upcoming transfer window.
The Argentine is deemed surplus to requirements at United and he has not made a single appearance in any competition this term.
Sheffield United have recently been linked with his signature, but The Mirror claims that the Magpies are also keeping tabs on his situation.
Magpies boss Steve Bruce is keen on pursuing a central defender, who can also feature at left-back and Rojo is said to perfectly fit the requirement.
Rojo's current deal expires at the end of the campaign, but United have the option to trigger a clause to extend his stay for another 12 months.
Hence, they don't face the desperation to sell, but reports claim that the hierarchy want to offload out-of-favour players as soon as possible.
Aside from Rojo, Phil Jones and Jesse Lingard have also been touted to leave the Red Devils when the transfer window reopens.
