Arsenal defender to terminate his contract this month?

Shkodran Mustafi news

Mustafi set for Arsenal release?

Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi is reportedly considering the option of terminating his contract with the club.

The German has dropped down the selection order this term and he has played only 43 minutes of Premier League football.

Mustafi's current deal with the Gunners expires at the end of the season, but it appears that he could terminate his deal in advance.

According to Football.London, the north London side are looking to reduce their wage bill further and that could pave the way for Mustafi's exit.

Mustafi is currently on wages of around £90,000-a-week and it is claimed that he could leave the Gunners this month with a small pay-off.

Arsenal have already loaned out Sead Kolasinac and William Saliba since the reopening of the transfer window.

Elsewhere, Mesut Ozil, Sokratis and Matt Macey have also been released from their respective contracts to move elsewhere.

They are now set to focus on new signings and are currently on the verge of signing Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid.
