Liverpool to swoop for Real Madrid defender?
Liverpool are reportedly planning an approach for Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane this summer.
Varane has been with Los Blancos for nearly a decade and he has accumulated 350 appearances across all competitions.
He is currently an undisputed starter in the central defence but there are doubts regarding his future with the club.
His present deal expires at the end of next season and so far, there has been no progress over a renewal beyond that period.
This has led to suggestions that Los Blancos could sell him for £45m and the Reds are among the clubs interested in his services.
Manchester United are also being linked with the 2018 World Cup winner following their failed approach in the summer of 2019.
United are on the hunt for a new centre-back to accompany Harry Maguire next season.
Meanwhile, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip have had injury-plagued careers and the Reds are looking for a new partner for Virgil van Dijk.
