Arsenal midfielder open to Germany return?
Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka could return to the Bundesliga during this summer's transfer window
The Switzerland has been a constant figure at the heart of the club's midfield, but his starting spot may not be guaranteed next season.
The Gunners are on the search for a new midfielder to partner Thomas Partey and the likes of Guido Rodriguez and Yves Bissouma have been linked.
According to Sky Germany, the former Arsenal captain may welcome a return to the Bundesliga, where he previously played for Borussia Monchengladbach.
Xhaka was close to joining Hertha Berlin in January last year, but he was convinced to stay by head coach Mikel Arteta.
The Swiss has since been one of the best-performing players for the north London side, as per the CIES Football Observatory.
Despite this, he has constantly been the subject of criticism from some fans, who believe that the club need a midfielder with better mobility.
Xhaka has made 36 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners this term. He is currently contracted until the summer of 2023.
