Chelsea to swoop for 25-year-old Champions League winner?
Chelsea are planning to make an approach for Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule ahead of the summer, The Athletic reports.
Sule has been with Bayern for the past four years, but he has never established himself as a regular starter.
The likes of Jerome Boateng and David Alaba will leave the club when their respective contracts expire in June.
Still, Bayern are reluctant to extend Sule's deal which expires in 14 months amid issues over his form and fitness.
According to The Athletic, Blues boss Thomas Tuchel will attempt to sign a new centre-back, and Sule is at the top of his wishlist.
The Blues have been closely following his situation, and are prepared to increase their interest over the coming weeks.
Sule has played second fiddle to Boateng and Alaba on numerous occasions this term. He has started only 15 league games.
The Blues can move up to third in the Premier League standings if they manage to beat Brighton & Hove Albion on Tuesday night.
