Aston Villa confident of signing Arsenal attacking target
Aston Villa are confident of beating Arsenal in the race to sign Norwich City playmaker Emiliano Buendia this summer.
The Argentine had a superb 2020/21 campaign with the Canaries, registering 15 goals and 17 assists from 39 league games.
According to Football Insider, Villa have already opened talks with the Canaries, and they are positive about signing Buendia.
Buendia was on the Gunners' radar in January before they landed Martin Odegaard on loan from Real Madrid.
They have been fancied to return for Buendia this summer, but are still undecided between him and Odegaard.
Dean Smith's side are willing to meet the £40m price tag for Buendia, and believe they have the edge over the Gunners.
The Canaries are prepared to accept a lesser sum upfront for the 24-year-old, who was recently called up by Argentina for the first time.
Villa are planning to sign two wide attackers this summer. Aside from Buendia, they have their sights on Burnley's Dwight McNeil.
