Arsenal to pay £40m for England international?
Arsenal are reportedly interested in signing Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White this summer.
The north London club have sufficient central defensive options, but they are planning an ambitious move for White.
According to David Ornstein, White is valued at £40m by the Seagulls, and the fee is not insurmountable for the Gunners.
The Gunners finished a disappointing eighth in the standings last term, and won't be playing in Europe next season.
Despite this, they could go on a spending spree with the club's owners facing severe criticism for the limited transfer activity.
The capital outfit are also interested in signing White's teammate Yves Bissouma. He could be available for a similar price tag.
Meanwhile, Brighton are keen on signing Eddie Nketiah. He could be used as a makeweight to reduce the overall valuation.
Nketiah has just 12 months left on his Gunners contract, and they value him at around £20m. Watford have also been linked with him.
