Arsenal want Locatelli

Arsenal have made an opening bid for Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli, a report from Gazzetta dello Sport claims.

The 23-year-old has excelled for Italy at the European Championships, registering two goals from as many appearances.

Juventus are deemed front-runners to sign him this summer, but it appears that they could face stiff competition from the Gunners.

The north London giants are planning a midfield overhaul with Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi due to leave.

Locatelli, who is also on the radar of Manchester City, has emerged as one of their top targets. They have now made an official bid.

The Gunners are planning to sign two central midfielders this summer, and one of them could be Albert Sambi Lokonga.

The Belgian has agreed personal terms, and the club are currently in advanced negotiations with Anderlecht over the fee.

They recently failed with an opening £13m offer for the 21-year-old, but they are deemed close to reaching a transfer agreement.
