Chelsea handed blow in signing Bayern Munich star
Chelsea have been handed a blow in signing Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule this summer.
Sule has 12 months left on his contract, and it was recently claimed that the Blues could make an approach to sign him.
However, their prospects are set to be dashed with Bayern prepared to extend Sule's deal for another season on similar wages.
Bayern have been unsuccessful in handing him a long-term deal, and want more time to negotiate over the salary.
New boss Julian Nagelsmann is also keen to work with the German, having previously managed him at Hoffenheim.
The recent departures of David Alaba and Jerome Boateng could see Sule claim a regular starting role next term.
It won't be straightforward with the competition from Lucas Hernandez and summer signing Dayot Upamecano.
Benjamin Pavard can also play at the heart of the defence while Bayern also have Tanguy Nianzou in the first-team squad.
The 19-year-old had a tough 2020/21 campaign with injuries, managing just 113 minutes of playing time from six appearances.
