Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has earmarked Rennes midfielder Eduardo Camavinga as a potential midfield target.

The Gunners are preparing to overhaul their midfield options with Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi expected to leave.

The club are close to signing Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht, but reports claim that they want another young midfielder.

According to Le 10 Sport, the Gunners are looking into a move for Camavinga, whose contract expires in June next year.

However, he is unlikely to come on the cheap, with Rennes wanting a staggering £86 million for his departure.

Rennes have recently opened negotiations with Camavinga, and they are willing to hand him a significant wage hike.

The club value him highly and feel a short-term extension could help maintain their valuation for the France international.

Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are long-term admirers of the starlet, but are unlikely to make any bids this summer.

Camavinga had an average 2020/21 campaign, where he played centrally rather than his preferred holding midfield role.
