Chelsea to swap Kurt Zouma plus cash for Jules Kounde
Chelsea are negotiating a player-plus-cash deal to sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde, reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano claims.
The Frenchman was linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month, but he rejected them due to sporting reasons.
The centre-back wanted the assurance of Champions League football. He now appears on the verge of signing for the Blues.
According to Romano, talks are at advanced stage between the clubs. Zouma will be included as a makeweight in the deal for Kounde.
Kounde is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in La Liga, and he has impressed with his all-round defensive ability.
He is exceptionally good in the air despite his height of 1.78m. The 22-year-old also prefers to carry the ball forward regularly.
Kounde is set to become the Blues' first marquee signing of the summer. They are also on the cusp of landing Marcus Bettinelli.
The 29-year-old goalkeeper is a free-agent and has agreed a two-year deal. He will provide back-up to Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
