Chelsea win the race to sign 29-year-old goalkeeper
Chelsea have reportedly beaten Arsenal and Aston Villa to the signing of goalkeeper Marcus Bettinelli.
The Blues entered negotiations with the free-agent last week, but they faced competition from Villa and the Gunners.
According to ESPN, the former Fulham man has now agreed personal terms over a two-year deal with the European champions.
The 29-year-old is expected to undergo his medical in the next 24 hours. He could be announced as the club's first signing of the summer.
He will be their third-choice goalkeeper for next season behind Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga.
The Blues have been quite during the transfer window, but there could be frantic activity before the deadline next month.
They are in advanced talks with Sevilla to sign Jules Kounde. Kurt Zouma could move in the opposite direction as part of the deal.
They are also lining up an ambitious bid for Borussia Dortmund's Erling Braut Haaland, who is valued in the region of £150m.
The Blues may look to recoup funds from player sales in the coming weeks before making a late raid for the Norwegian star.
