Chelsea midfielder joins Crystal Palace on loan

Crystal Palace have confirmed the signing of Conor Gallagher on a season-long loan agreement.

The Eagles have been active in the transfer market this summer after releasing several senior players.

They have already made five signings with Gallagher being the most recent from the European champions.

Gallagher reportedly underwent a medical with Leeds United, but backtracked when the Eagles made the move.

He was excited by the prospect of working under Patrick Vieira and was assured with a regular starting role.

Gallagher becomes the second player from Chelsea to join Palace this summer after the arrival of Marc Guehi.

Guehi joined on a permanent deal worth £20m, but the Blues have the matching rights for a future transfer.

Palace are expected to continue their spending spree, and they hope to convince Wilfried Zaha to stay.

Zaha is keen on playing European football, but the Eagles hierarchy won't sell him for less than £35m this summer.

He has been on the radar of Everton in the past, but they have yet to make a renewed approach to land his signature.
