Leicester reject Arsenal's latest offer for Maddison

James Maddison news

Maddison set for Leicester City stay as Arsenal chase his signature

Arsenal's pursuit of Leicester City midfielder James Maddison shows no sign of drawing to a close, after the Gunners' cash plus players offer was rejected. Maddison has his heart set on a move to the Emirates this summer.

According to the Football Insider, the Gunners have tabled a bid of £22 million plus Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson in a swap deal. Both Maitland-Niles and Nelson have been informed they are free to leave North London this summer, but as of yet no bids have been received for either player.

Maddison is desperate to kickstart his England international career and believes a move to Arsenal will improve his chances of recognition at the highest level. Under manager Brendan Rodgers last season, Maddison found himself benched and has been seeking assurances that he will be appearing for the Foxes this season a regular basis.

Maddison has a deal with Leicester City until 2024, and could be set to double his salary if the player makes a move to the Emirates Stadium.

Leicester City, on the other hand, are looking for a cash only deal and are willing to accept £70 million outright in a transfer deal for Maddison.
