Chelsea readying new deal for club graduate
Chelsea are reportedly planning to hand a new long-term contract to Trevoh Chalobah amid his emergence this term.
The 22-year-old spent the previous campaign on loan with Lorient where he earned valuable top-flight experience.
He has since stepped up to the Blues first-team after an impressive pre-season where he was hugely consistent.
The centre-back has already bagged two Premier League goals. The club are keen to reward him for his efforts.
His current deal expires in June 2023, but talks are now underway over a fresh four-year contract on improved wages.
Chalobah has seen limited playing time amid the fierce competition for places, but he has still been impressive.
His performances have already made him a favourite among fans. It could only be a matter of time before he extends his stay.
He started in the recent 3-1 win over Southampton, and may continue in the XI against Brentford with Thiago Silva's absence.
Silva is on international duty with Brazil and he is only expected to return on October 16, the same day when the Blues face Brentford.
