Pogba set for Manchester United stay?

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is ready to put pen-to-paper on a new long-term contract, L'Equipe claims.

The Frenchman has entered the final nine months of his Red Devils deal, and there has been speculation that he could leave the club.

However, it is now reported that Pogba is leaning towards staying rather than pursuing a fresh challenge elsewhere next summer.

The midfielder believes United are best suited to meet his wage demands amid the financial difficulties due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He is eyeing a four-year deal worth £320,000-a-week in wages. The Red Devils are widely expected to meet his salary demands.

As things stand, Pogba can discuss a pre-contract with a foreign club in January. United may look to finalise a new deal prior to that.

Aside from Pogba, the club are also aiming to convince Jesse Lingard to extend his stay to avoid losing him for free next summer.

Lingard has had some quality cameos off the bench, but he is reluctant to sign an extension amid his lack of consistent game time.
