Silva wanted back by Fluminense

Brazilian club Fluminense are keen on a reunion with Chelsea defender Thiago Silva at the end of the campaign.

The centre-back played for the Serie A outfit between 2006 and 2009 before he made the switch to Italy with AC Milan.

He was fancied to rejoin them after leaving Paris Saint-Germain last summer, but instead chose to sign for the Blues.

Silva has been a consistent performer for the European champions despite his age, but he could leave them next summer.

The 37-year-old's contract expires in June next year, and the Blues have their sights on reinforcing the centre-back department.

They have been linked with high-profile moves for Sevilla's Jules Kounde and Juventus' Matthijs de Ligt in recent months.

Silva has never shied away from expressing his gratitude to Fluminense, and he could return to the Maracana next summer.

Aside from Silva, it is also unclear whether Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger will extend their deals beyond June.

Both players have turned down initial contract offers on the table, and there is currently a stand-off. They could leave for free next year.
