Barcelona playmaker would choose Arsenal over Newcastle
Barcelona playmaker Philippe Coutinho would choose Arsenal over Newcastle United, Cadena SER journalist Bruno Alemany claims.
The Brazilian has no future with the Catalan giants. They are prepared to loan him out this winter to reduce their wage bill.
Both Arsenal and Newcastle have been linked with his services. It has been claimed that manager Mikel Arteta is a firm admirer.
It is now reported that the 29-year-old would welcome a move to the Gunners if he had to choose between them and the Magpies.
The north London giants have yet to make an approach, but there are suggestions that a loan proposal could be lodged.
Coutinho currently earns around £370,000-a-week at Barcelona. The Gunners could be willing to pay part of the wages.
The playmaker has also been linked with Everton and Leicester City, but Coutinho has no plans of joining either club this month.
Arsenal are planning at least two signings during the ongoing transfer window, but that will be dependent on possible outgoings.
