Exclusive: Rodrigo Bentacur to sign for Tottenham
Tottenham have agreed a transfer to sign Rodrigo Bentacur from Juventus, with the Uruguayan midfielder set to agree a long-term contract. Spurs will pay 23 million euros plus 3 million extra in installments for the player.
Juventus have today completed the transfer of Denis Zakaria as the replacement for Bentacur.
The 24-year-old midfielder arrives at White Hart Lane as two other midfielders look set for the exit door, with Tanguy Ndombele likely to join Lyon on loan and Bryan Gil set to return to Spain with Valencia.
Bentacur has been a topic of much speculation so far this transfer window, and Tottenham have pulled off a major coup in winning their pursuit of the former Boca Juniors star.
Bentacur, who has 46 caps for his country, had been linked with a move to Aston Villa, but the 6 foot 2 midfielder has opted to make the transfer to Tottenham instead. Spurs will pay the box-to-box midfielder around £175,000 per week.
Spurs are expected to announce at least two transfers on deadline day, with Dejan Kulusevski also likely to arrive.
