Man Utd block attacker's exit on deadline day
Manchester United have blocked Jesse Lingard's potential loan move to Newcastle United before tonight's transfer deadline.
The England international has been eager to join the Magpies this month, but it appears he may need to wait until the summer.
Ralf Rangnick recently gave the green light for the loan move, but the hierarchy have decided against the temporary deal.
The club have been busy with outgoings this month, loaning out Anthony Martial, Amad Diallo and Donny van de Beek.
Apart from the trio, there has been fresh disruption to the first-team plans with the arrest and suspension of Mason Greenwood.
Amidst this, the board believe Lingard would play a key role, and have decided to keep him for the rest of the campaign.
The club graduate has already entered the last six months of his deal, and looks set to leave on a free transfer later this year.
Newcastle will be front-runners to sign him, but could face fresh competition from West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur.
