Man Utd opted against Kamara deal

Manchester United rejected the chance to land Marseille midfielder Boubacar Kamara last month, Fabrizio Romano reports.

The Frenchman was heavily linked with the Red Devils in January amid suggestions that they were eyeing a holding midfielder.

However, the club ended up without making any purchase. The hierarchy were reluctant to back interim boss Ralf Rangnick with funds.

It is now revealed that they opted against pursuing Kamara despite the fact that he was available for a cut-price deal for around £10m.

Marseille were willing to do business with his contract expiring in the summer, but United decided to pass on the opportunity to sign him.

The Red Devils hierarchy are determined to sign a new permanent manager before pursuing any more signings for the first-team squad.

Rangnick has been linked with the role lately, but it is quite clear that board are looking at other options for the head coach role.

Paris Saint-Germain's Mauricio Pochettino appears the favourite to take charge as he is widely expected to leave the French club.
