Chelsea, Man Utd vying to sign French midfielder

Chelsea and Manchester United could go head-to-head in the pursuit of Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni this summer.

The Frenchman has been in sparkling form for the Ligue 1 outfit, registering an average of three tackles and three interceptions per game.

He has been touted to pursue a bigger challenge, and Sport claims that he could be sold for around €60m during the next transfer window.

Barcelona have been linked with him in recent months, but it appears that they face an impossible task with the high asking price reported.

Hence, it could be a potential tussle between Chelsea, United and Real Madrid. The latter are currently focused on landing Kylian Mbappe.

The Blues are looking for a long-term replacement for N'Golo Kante, and Tchouameni could be the perfect fit, having already scouted him.

Meanwhile, the 22-year-old would be a solid upgrade for United, who have lacked consistency through Scott McTominay, Fred and Nemanja Matic.

Champions League football could be essential to luring him this summer.
