Rudiger set for Barcelona switch

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger could be heading to Barcelona at the end of the campaign.

The German has just three months left on his Blues deal. It has been widely reported that he could leave on a free transfer.

Real Madrid and Juventus have been linked with him in recent months, but Barcelona are now deemed favourites to sign him.

According to Sky Germany, Rudiger's agent and brother Sahr Senesie held secret negotiations with Barcelona chiefs on Wednesday.

The appointment lasted for nearly three hours. It has been claimed that terms over a potential free transfer may have been finalised.

Rudiger has been a key player for the west London giants. The German has been ever-present for the club under manager Thomas Tuchel.

Despite this, the Blues have refused to meet his salary demands of nearly £300,000-a-week. They don't want to break their wage structure.

The club are currently banned from negotiating due to the sanctions on owner Roman Abramovich. The situation will change with a takeover.

Even if that happens, it is unlikely that Rudiger will renew with the club.
