Kovacic ruled out with ankle ligament injury

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Mateo Kovacic has been ruled out of the Premier League meeting against Arsenal.

The Blues have won three games on the bounce. They recently reached the FA Cup final with a 2-0 triumph over Crystal Palace.

During that game, Kovacic was substituted early in the first half with an ankle concern, and he could now be sidelined for weeks.

Speaking in today's press conference, Tuchel confirmed the absence of the Croatian citing that he had picked up an ankle ligament injury.

The German did not provide a potential return date for the midfielder, but admitted that he could be out for at least two weeks.

In Kovacic's absence, Ruben Loftus-Cheek could earn a starting spot against the Gunners following his FA Cup heroics on Sunday.

The Blues graduate has received regular game time in recent weeks. He bagged the opening goal against the Eagles at Wembley.

He could be accompanied by N'Golo Kante. Jorginho appears set to be dropped following a lacklustre display in the derby.
